Revisit

Posted on May 27th, 2005 in Soapbox, That makes me happy by Aardvark

I saw this today (thanks Nailhead!) and even though I have seen it before…I felt the need to revisit and share.

A man was fed up with teachers making a hefty salary for only nine months work. “If I had my way,” he said, “I’d pay teachers the same as baby-sitters! That’s right… $3 an hour. And only for the five hours a day that they actually work, not for planning time, meetings, or outside of school duties either! $15 a day! That’s enough.” “Fine,” said a teacher. “I’ll take it!” The man was surprised. The teacher continued, “Each parent can pay me $15 a day for me to babysit their kids, and I’ll throw in my teaching for free. Since I teach an average of 25 children per hour, I’ll make $15 x 25 or $375 a day. Since we only work 180 days per year, I’ll make $375 x 180 or $67,500 a year.” “Hey, wait a minute!” said the man. The teacher added, “Teachers with ten years or more of experience, a Master’s Degree, or special education teachers should make more–say,oh, minimum wage. I’ll round it off to $6 per hour. Let’s see: at 5 hours per day times 25 children equals $750 per day. Multiply that times 180 days and I’d make $135,000 per year.” The man looked puzzled and said, “Somethings wrong here!” The teacher replied, “I couldn’t agree more!”

Goodnight.

Thursday…very productive.
Got up
Checked email
Posted on “A” is for Aardvark
Took the girls out
Showered
Finished getting ready
Met Stephanie for lunch (delicious sushi lunch)
Dropped off exercise mats at Monte Sano Elem.
Chatted with Principal
Met Steve at home (I love it when he comes home early)
Steve and I spent the rest of the day doing the following:
Went to Memmie’s
Picked up back seat for the Dynamite
Politely declined used old lady clothes (they are very clean)
Car wash for the Dynamite
Jerry Damson Honda - picked up antenna for the Element (damn the bastards that stole mine)
Alfa- paid car insurance
Home again
Checked Email and various blogs
Convinced Steve that a nap was needed
Helped Steve relax before our nap ;)
Nap
Cleaned out the Dynamite
Girls out again
Dinner
Snuggle time on the couch
Watched some Law and Order: SVU
Steve went to bed around 10
Girls out
I have been watching tv and assing off on the computer. Now I am about to go to bed. This is my favorite part of the day. No matter when I go to bed or how long Steve has been asleep…when I finally crawl into bed I snuggle in and Steve immediately snuggles right back and wraps his arms around me. He usually doesn’t even really wake up. Sometimes there is a mumble of acknowledgment that sounds a bit like “love you” but even when there isn’t….it is the most loved I feel most days and my favorite part of the day everyday.
Goodnight.

Sirius-ly

Posted on May 26th, 2005 in Steve, That makes me happy, Whatever by Aardvark

Steve loves me. He wants me to have commercial free music. Yesterday Steve had a new stereo (Kenwood) installed in my car. It is “Sirius” ready. I now have Sirius satellite radio in my car. It is amazing. You just pick the genre of music you want and there you go…with no commercials. I love it. There are 120 channels and the variety is amazing. You can learn more here.

Tomorrow

Who wants to have lunch tomorrow?

Ahhh….people we hate

Posted on May 26th, 2005 in People that I hate. by Aardvark

Today I will have lunch with Stephanie. It will be delicious. We will talk about people we know, people we like and most importantly …. people we hate.
Now many people say that they don’t “waste time” on people they hate. I say “bullshit”. Everyone talks about the people they don’t like…some more than others and it is human nature to think you are superior to someone. Do i think it is a hobby to be proud of? No…but I refuse to be a hypocrite and act like I don’t do it. I do find some solace in the fact that most of the people I hate know I hate them. I am not good at pretending that i like someone if I don’t. I guess that is my justification…not that I need one ;)

The lucky one

Posted on May 26th, 2005 in Steve by Aardvark

Last night Steve told me he is lucky to have me. I smiled and said sure he was. But really….I know I am the lucky one. I can’t imagine putting up wit me and I am not sure how anyone does. I am moody, impulsive, and I demand attention. I like to console myself by telling myself that I am also loving and giving and laugh out loud…but really I know I am the lucky one.

That’s right….10!

Today I discovered a new treat. Philly Swirl Sugar-free Swirl Stix. They are 0 carbs and only 10 calories each. Right now they are only available at Sam’s but you should try them! They are delicious…and guilt free. They come 40 to a box and there are 4 flavors.
You could eat the entire box and it would still only be 400 calories.
(the average “Blast” at Sonic is 700 calories)
For more info check out the website.

Mr. Fixit

Steve has been working on some computers on the side. He is starting to really enjoy “fixing” other peoples computers. So if you need yours “fixed”…let us know!
He also does web pages (hhuhhhumm Alison)!

Leprosy

Posted on May 22nd, 2005 in My Peeps, Need to know, That makes me happy, Whatever by Aardvark

The show is over and school is out. I can resume a normal life again? Not really. There is nothing normal about being off of work for 2 months…it already feels like Summer is tooooo short. I will be excited to lounge around by the pool and hit some kick boxing classes….and maybe even have a reunion of “The Women” at my parents pool! (a reunion of the women that don’t suck anyway)
Today Steve and I are going to go grab some lunch and see Star Wars….then a little house hunting, groceries, and dinner at Sweetie’s. The girls are coming home tonight…they will probably be happy to see us and bitter that they are losing the big backyard.
Hopefully they will get a backyard of their own soon!

On a different note … welcome to the new people reading “A” is for Aardvark! Keep coming back … I enjoy the comments! Maybe we should have a lunch for all of the “A” is for Aardvark regulars and see who shows! Let me know what you think!

Does leprosy cause sudden ghetto like seizures?
