Someone out there knows me sooooo well!
Your kindness is borne out of the sheer goodness of your heart, but it’s definitely getting you noticed. Whoever said the nice person finishes last hasn’t witnessed you in action.

How can you not love this woman?
I will be available for lunching in July. If you would like to eat with me…please contact me.
That is all.
My friend Julie is moving to Texas. She lives in Mobile now but her husband is a Major in the Army so they are moving. It is weird because I don’t see her that much now… but knowing she will be even farther away makes me sad.
My parents are moving!
Don’t worry…they are just moving across town. They are downsizing. I guess with the children officially moved out…they don’t need 3500 sq feet. They have found a house on Chicamauga (behind Hillwood Baptist Church) and will be moving next month.
They have LOTS of stuff. Sooooo my mom is going to move all the stuff they are keeping and then the rest will be part of the estate sale. There will be couches, dressers, chests of drawers, etc…
I will try and get her to make a list of the big items so that if you know anyone who needs them….let me know.
If you have some crap that needs to get out of your house…we can throw it in the mix!
I will be having a Party Lite Candle party on Tuesday July 12 @ 6:30 pm.
It will be a fiesta! I will have margaritas, chips and dips!
Please come and join the fun!
If you can’t come and would like a catalog…let me know!
There will be more reminders as we get closer to the date!
I have been having this recurring dream. It is weird and I KEEP having it. Maybe if I write about it …it will go away.
Tell me what you think.
There is a large fish tank …very large ..like the size of a room but only about 3 feet deep. And on the surface (randomly) there are places to sit. People are lounging about watching a film that is being shown on the wall. The people are all sort of nameless and faceless except the one running the projector. It is my friend Eric (aka Nailhead). I am curled up on ledge in the corner with my back to the fish. Suddenly I need to leave but the only way out is to cross through the fish tank. So I start across and the fish start swarming me…trying to bite me. I finally get to the other side when this one HUGE black fish bites down on my right pointer finger. He will not let go. I am outside of the tank and he is inside…we are tug-of-war-ing with my finger. Finally I manage to pull him out of the water but he still won’t let go. After pulling and pulling I manage t get my finger loose. It is all scraped and bloody from the fish teeth. I sling the fish to the floor and start to run down the hall. The fish is flopping after me biting at my toes and trying to catch me. Then I wake up.
Oh…and when i wake up my finger still hurts from the fish teeth.
Steve has several interviews lined up! SAIC and Boeing…so far. He has also been talking to someone at Raytheon. Yeah Steve! Tomorrow he goes to meet with a guy about some contract work he has lined up. Steve is getting a lot done for someone who still has a broke-ass leg.
On a separate note…I went for a walk tonight with a new friend. Her name is Angie.
As many of you know I am doing a fellowship with The National Writing Project this summer. I was able to write the bio with little head or heart ache but the “creative” writing is making me crazy. I have always been a pretty good writer when it comes to things that are defined. I can write papers, reviews, limericks, etc… Anything that has rules I can usually do. Part of what we are doing in the program is trying to make ourselves better writers because “teachers who write are better teachers of writing.” I get that but now I know how my kids at school feel when I tell them to write a short story. It has been murder. I finished my first “self-selected” piece today. I will post it in the forum later for you to ridicule but I have to type it first. Yes…I wrote it ‘old-school’…in longhand on a legal pad with a number 2 pencil. There are whole paragraphs marked out and revisions all over the place. I will be sending it to a friend tonight to have it edited. It is funny that I can find mechanical errors in my students work but am blind to my own. When it is all prettied up I will share it with you. Please … when that time comes be kind. This whole experience has made me realize just what I expect out of my students and how hard it must be for them sometimes. We have been working in groups to respond and review our writing and it has been wonderful because my group is kind. They understand the concept of constructive criticism. They are quick to point out the things that work as well as the things that don’t. It has really made me aware of my expectations in the classroom. I don’t plan to expect less from my children but at least now I can say that I know exactly how they feel and hopefully impart the benefits that come from the struggle.
