A Wise Man

I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats.
I don’t intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

a package

Posted on November 17th, 2005 in Need to know, WTF, Whatever by Aardvark

Yesterday when I arrived home there was a package at my door. I asked Steve what he had ordered and he said he hadn’t ordered anything. A mystery. On closer inspection it was revealed that the box was addressed to me. The return address was SoapNet. I do not watch soap operas and I have never ordered anything from soapnet. A prize! So I open the box and there is no paperwork inside. Where did this mystery gift come from? I carefully inspect the outside label and the only clue is
[Billed to: 3rd party]

The contents of the box were equally unusual. There was a SoapNet totebag (mini), a mug and a tee-shirt.

Steve says it look like a promotional package. But why would they send it to me? Until the package arrived I had never even been to the SoapNet website. So what is up? Can any of you come up with anything? Has anyone else received a mystery package from SoapNet?

Black Friday

Posted on November 15th, 2005 in Need to know, Outings, Whatever by Aardvark

Black Friday is almost upon us! Here is a sneak peek at some of the deals.

For those of you that are headed to Besy Buy … My friend ChromaMonkee is in management over there and here is what they will be doing to accomodate the needs of the Black Friday shoppers….

Here is the skinny of Best Buy offering to the process.

Lines are long, and it is cold. Best Buy tries to accomadate customers as much as possible.

Chic-Fil-A is going to be on the sidewalk selling breakfast. Some will be there since midnight.

Currently attempting to find a Coffee company for outside coffee sales. Attatched Barnes and Noble wants no part of helping out.

Belive it or not, and it is a brilliant idea, a Porta Potty will be available for those smaller bladders.

Coupons for the killer deals will be handed out, and sales associates will be on hand outside to offer information on products and services.

I don’t know if anyone here is up for the hype, but if you checked out the ad on the above post, you can see there will be a lot of craziness. As usual. Even running 16 registers full force, the line last year at its peak was 3.5 hours long.

Enjoy

Pretty cool…

Where is it?

The house is on Milton. It is on the Southeast corner of Milton and Ensley.
Here is a map.

Here are picture I took at the house today. Click on them!
The lady who lives there is still in the process of packing and moving…so you can see some of her stuff in the pics. Just ignore it. You can also see Steve in a couple…don’t ignore him.

House

Posted on November 6th, 2005 in Need to know, Steve, That makes me happy by Aardvark

Steve and I have been house hunting. As of yesterday afternoon we had seen about 10. The 2nd house was great, very unusual and cool. The 5th house was great, lots of space at a great price…but not the greatest schools. The 9th house that we looked at…we loved. We made an offer. That was around 6pm. Last night during the first act of The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic SocietyMurder Mystery they accepted our offer. We are going back over there this afternoon with my dad (and anyone else who wants to tag along) so that he can look it over and make sure it is structurally (?) sound and whatnot.
So if you want to check it out here it is. The picture doesn’t really do it justice…but if we get the house (fingers crossed) you are invited over! There will be many gatherings.

dinner?

Posted on November 4th, 2005 in WTF, Whatever by Aardvark

Let’s talk about the weather. I am very confused every morning trying to get dressed. It is COLD in the morning but if I dress for cold I am hot by afternoon. It is HOT in the afternoon. My wardrobe is limited these days anyway (thanks to baby aardvark) so I am in a constant state of “no idea what to wear.”

I know that I have mentioned that I have Sirius radio in my car. So this week I started using one of the additional benefits…live streaming music via sirius.com
It is great. I can sit at my computer working and still listen to music that doesn’t suck and doesn’t have commercials. Now granted I have to turn it off when the kids are in here. I don’t listen to classroom appropriate music. BUT… I can turn it on radio Disney or classical or whatever if the kids are involved in something and would like background music. So that is cool too.

Does anyone need shoes? I am about to do an extreme purge of my shoe collection. I have around 100 pair of shoes … so if you are an 8 - 9 and interested…. let me now.

If you could have anything for dinner tonight …what would it be?
I think I would have crab legs.

The leaves are changing colors and my drive to work is beautiful. I love the colors of fall. I love that my classroom has HUGE windows that look out into the woods. No buildings or streets just trees.

I have not started my Christmas shopping. I made a list of people to shop for…but that is as far as I got. Let me know what you want.

Do you think feet are sexy?

Wilde Weekend

Posted on November 1st, 2005 in My Peeps, Outings, That makes me happy by Aardvark

All the recovery … it has taken me until Tuesday to update about the weekend.
We will start with Friday.
Sarah, Steph and I hit the road to Nashville via Steph’s scenic route. Steph and Sarah rode in arctic conditions to accomodate their favorite pregnant woman. They were also happy to stop every 45 minutes or so to let me pee. There were good times and laughs all the way up … “Hey Sarah look at those poles…Hey Sarah look at those cows!”
We arrived just in time for our dinner reservations at The Aquarium. The food was wonderful, the seats were great, the giant green eel was creepy, the shark was humpback and the company couldn’t have been better.
We finished our dinner and headed to the gift store … Steph lucked up and found a fantastic crocodile for a mere $5! It is incredible really! We then accosted a random stranger to help us in our quest of pointless pictures. From there we headed to the Hotel Preston. We arrived and made our way to our room…soon to be followed by a huge tray of chocolate treats! We snacked and talked until what we thought was a wee hour. AND who could forget the original choreography!
Saturday
We woke up early (earlier than we thought) and Steph managed to stay in bed awake for about 3 minutes. Then she was up busy-bodying around. She is a morning person. Sarah and I …. not as much. We finally managed to all get up shower, dress, beautify and head to the dining room for breakfast. After eating we headed back up to the room for our massages. We each had an in room chair massage…it was fantatstic! Now fed and renewed we were ready to hit the mall! We shopped ALL DAY! Stpeh managed to get some Christmas shopping out of the way. I picked up some bargains for my ever expanding belly. Sarah discoverd the new award winning HOT ITEM for Christmas (zip-it). Lots of shopping, laughing and people watching.
Our labors being over the time came for us to depart. We hit the road and headed south. We stopped to eat and to pee (of course). We encountered Bubba and Lil’ Bubba while getting gas. All in all I would say “A fun time was had by all!”
The only question left …. when is the next trip?
