This afternoon Steve had to run an errand…Scout and I tagged along. We drove downtown to drop off some paperwork and to see where Steve’s new office will be. Then we made a couple of random stops and headed home. We were driving through a neighborhood about 2 miles from home… the car in front of us was driving very slowly and kept acting like it might pull over. Finally it pulled over to the curb and stopped. We passed it. As we were passing it we both looked over and at the same time we both said “oh my god!”
The person driving had a toddler (maybe 2yrs old) in her lap….letting her drive! WTF! I don’t care if you are in a residential area. No! That is absolutely unacceptable. I can’t even believe someone would think that was ok.

Yesterday Steve proposed. I said yes.
It was vey sweet. He was extremely nervous …especially for someone who is already my baby daddy 
He surprised me by coming home from work early. I was in the bedroom and he came in and asked me if I loved him. I said yes. He showed me this beautiful ring and asked me if I would marry him. I said yes.

My ring is gorgeous. It is a princess cut solitare in a classic 4 prong white gold Tiffany setting. It is perfect.
Wedding plans to be decided and announced soon. I am still unsure about changing my name….any thoughts?

Harper Lee, Air conditioning and a party
The other day I went to get my nails done. There was a older lady getting a manicure and she was very interested in Scout. She complimented Scout on being so beautiful and then asked her name. I replied, “Scout.” The lady hooted and said Harper Lee would be so pleased to have such a beautiful baby named in her honor. She said she had talked to Harper on the phone just last week. One of her very best friends is very close friends with Harper…and she was visiting. Cool. This same older lady then shared with the entire shop her theory that the South was rebuilt and “rose again” due to air conditioning. She said that the South would have never recovered from “the war” if it had not been for air conditioning. With it being so hot lately…it got me thinking. She may be right.
Saturday night Steve and I had dinner with Amy. A good time was had by all and at the end we got our fortune cookies. Steve opened his and it said “Soon you will attend a party where strange customs prevail.” Cool … Steve gets to go to a party. So I opened my cookie….it said “Soon you will attend a party where strange customs prevail.” Sweet.
