a work in progress…

Posted on January 30th, 2007 in About me by Aardvark

I try not to dwell on my weight and such here…but today is a good positive post. I don’t weigh myself very often…it is a personal thing. Usually I am afraid of the number that will be staring up at me. This morning I stepped on the scale after several weeks of avoidance…and I would like to announce that I have lost 60 pounds since Scout was born. Now let me add that I gained 65lbs while I was pregnant (30 in the last 10 days). So I am 5lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. That is good.
I gained about 15lbs from the time I met Steve till the time I got pregnant. (Damn Steve for feeding me ;)
So ultimately I would like to lose another 30lbs.

just to be fair…

About me?

Posted on January 15th, 2007 in About me, My Peeps, Need to know by Aardvark

I hate writing “about me” crap. But I like the idea of a page for new readers to click on and find out about me.
So here is my request…you write it.
I will dedicate a whole page to what you have to say about me! I won’t edit it or anything (unless you are some hateful bitch that I don’t know).

The Girls

Yesterday I found a new home for the girls. It is a bittersweet situation. When I adopted the girls… I was single and a little lonely. When I brought them home I spoiled them and loved them and took them for long walks, They slept at the foot of my bed. Then I met Steve. He and the girls hit it off and there were no big changes. THEN…I got pregnant. The girls rebelled. I don’t know if they sensed it or what….but they became belligerent and disobedient. AND they started using the bathroom inside. Soooo we started crating them at night and when we weren’t home. Guilt. Then we moved to the house we are in now. The dogs can’t come in. The carpet is very light and soon a baby would be playing on it. GUILT. There is a big back yard and they have each other. They seemed happy. I felt bad. I haven’t been able to give them the attention and love they deserve. So I found someone who can. A friend of my moms lost her dog a few months ago. She has been wanting a new one…so I asked her if she would be interested in 2. She was. She doesn’t work and her kids are grown…she is a dog lover, spoiler extraordinaire! They will be very loved and happy. I didn’t think I would be so emotional…but I am fighting back tears as I type this.

I will miss them.

Makeover

Posted on January 12th, 2007 in General, I want that!, Steve by Aardvark

I gave Steve a list tonight. A list of changes, new things and ideas I borrowed, adapted and stole. The site is ready for a makeover! Don’t worry…it will still be the same witty commentary (just shiny and new). Of course it may not be anytime soon…we are on Steve’s schedule. If you think of anything that you think would be really cool to have hanging out around here….let me know.

Book Club Jan 2007

Posted on January 10th, 2007 in Book Club, Whatever by Aardvark

And we are back…..

The new year is upon us, and it is time to get ourselves back in gear for book club. We have very few requirements:

1) You must read the book. Or fake it really well (Sarah.)
2) You must be female. Yes, we’re sexist.
3) You must be open-minded and not easily offended.
4) Really, you need to be pretty near to impossible to offend.

Steph picked both a book and a date for January. Because. Just because she is like that. The book is currently available at Costco as their pick of the month. It’s set in China and deals with friendship between women (our favorite topic.) The book is titled
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.

DATE: January 24 (Wednesday)

TIME: 7:00 pm

PLACE: Stephanie’s house (comment for directions)

BOOK: Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

Since this will be just before Chinese New Year, Steph decided onChinese-themed refreshments. (Plus wine, of course.) She is going to provide potstickers and tea (green and black.)

If your age is even, bring libation. Odd, bring a finger food.

If it’s too hard to bring something (i.e., you’re coming straight from work), just come! We always have plenty.
