Stalking works!
By Aardvark | November 5, 2008
Today’s topic = Yesterday’s outing with Book Mamma and the wild boys!
Let’s begin with the stalking. I have been reading Book Mamma’s blog for a while. I became even more excited about reading it when I realized she was local. Then we started exchanging comments. It was like the cool kid signing your year book. Then we started the twitttering madness. So I decided it was time to take my stalking to the next level.
*** I am interrupting this post to tell you another story that is related and I feel needs to go here because I am totally stream of consciousness***
I like to decide that someone will be my friend. McMommy blogged about this phenomena recently. I could totally relate. I often will meet someone and just decide that he/she will be my friend. Susanna may have been my first victim chosen friend but she wasn’t the last. Steve remembers the pre coven days when I declared that I wanted Stephanie to be my friend. Then I staked my claim on Sarah. One day Steve told me about a local blogger he was interviewing for a job and mentioned that I should check out her blog. I thought she was fabulous and decided to force myself on her too. I think she would call me a friend. (And really Pocklock is lucky she lives so far away…because she would totally be on my list.) I like to think these people appreciate my efforts. So apparently I have an MO. (at least I am consistent)
*****You may now return to your regularly scheduled blog post********
So as you would expect I had to take my stalking of Book Mamma to the next level because I had decided we should be friends (and really in my mind that is all it takes). So I suggested a luncheon. She was in! We invited Sarah and called it a party! As I expected a fabulous time was had by all! The next step of an effective stalker is lure your prey into your circle of friends…so I invited Book Mamma to our Wine Book Club. She actually showed! It was awesome and the greatest part was that we started discovering people we both know and how our circles sort of overlapped already! (note: it is easier to stalk people who know people you know)
Then I did the biggie…a PLAYDATE! My girls (you know because Miss P just loves a playdate), her boys, the Huntsville Botanical Gardens…what could be better (maybe a few juice boxes…)?
We hit the HBG this afternoon and immediately all of the children went wild. A good wild! I love that little kids are immediately willing to play together. You would have thought Scout, Finn and Eli hung out all the time. They ran around and entertained each other while Miss P hung with the moms on the bench. There were snacks, juice and even some hand holding! I got some super cute pictures and we had a great time (even with the frantic phone call that resulted in my hasty departure ….but that is another post). I am hopeful that we can do it again sometime.
Thursday lunch is lunch again with Sarah and Book Mamma. I am excited.
Stalking pays off.

This BookMamma person is a complete wackjob in professional clothing – DON’T be fooled by her regal countenance! It’s all a farce and she is quite the dork once you really get to know her.
But I think if you asked her she might say she is mighty impressed with your stalking abilities!
