    You can always buy shoes!

    By Aardvark | October 18, 2008

Yesterday Miss P had her 6 month checkup. He weighed in at 12lbs 13oz (3rd %tile). She is 23.5 inches long (34th %tile) and I don’t remember what her head measurement was…but it was in the 13th %tile. She started eating cereal and bananas this week…and she loves it! She also visited the ENT and the Podiatrist this week. The ENT said her laryngomalacia was improving and that when we return in Dec. he will probably scope her and then release her from regular visits. The Podiatrist wants to see us again at a year old. He said right now there isn’t much they can do on such tiny toes and he wants to see how it plays out once she starts bearing weight and cruising/walking. He is fairly certain that she will have to have some kind of surgical procedure eventually but right now her toes are still developing. He said the window of flexibility (being able to correct muscle instead of bone) is open until about 2 years old. He also said that the toe overlap wouldn’t be an issue as far as learning to walk but that walking would probably make her toes sore and could cause problems down the road. So I guess we will find out more later. He did tell us not put her in shoes. He said socks and leather slippers (Robeez, Bobux, etc…) were fine but that under no circumstances should we have her in a shoe with a hard sole.
Ahhh just another reason to buys some shoes! (slippers…whatever!)

I just wanted to say hi! I’m a mommy with a 7-month-old with laryngomalacia. It has kept her small too…in fact, she weighs the exact same as your daughter. Feel free to visit my blog :)
